Providing meals for the needy, preparing funeral dinners, hosting community events… food preparation is an inherent part of ministry for many churches.

While food and fellowship are an excellent duo, cooking for large groups requires careful planning and execution to make sure all food is handled and prepared safely. The last thing a good meal needs is bad case of food poisoning.

All ministries should be aware of the rules for safe food preparation. State legislators are taking a closer look at food preparation rules, too. For example, a state law in Minnesota requires food safety training for people who cook and serve food at church events.
